Cool, when you’re creating an index is there a way to distinguish between the different uses of “still”? As an adverb, it means that we remain, and as a adjective it has a similar meaning of Stillness but it works quite differently. I suppose we use it as a verb in the sense of being still, but there is also the technical apparatus for making moonshine, a noun. So when you make a list like this, is there any particular way to use our current word tools to distinguish those different uses?

Brenton, I think there absolutely is a way to do it! Painstaking work, though, so I’ll save it for when someone hands me a grant enough to live comfortably and do nothing else for the rest of my days 🙂 There’s probably an automated way to get it done, but… I don’t trust them newfangled machines to grok the nuances; I like to get my hands on the words!

It’s sort of like importing rabbits to Australia. Sounds like a really great idea when you don’t understand about ecosystems…
