Common word, commonly used.

Update one week later: I have resisted for a full week any reference to Sir Terry Pratchett’s magnificent created word “Knowlessman” (from Guards! Guards!). Apparently the word has wandered all over fandoms and tropes. Just magnificent. I was searching because I kind of hoped to find it was actually an obsolete word. Nope, Pratchett just had the knack of inventing words that rang with archaism. What I did find, however, was “knowness”, acknowledgement, a darned rare word with the flavor of “this bag of coin right here that I am handing you is my knowness, because I certainly wouldn’t be handing coin over to just anyone who claimed they were my lord.”
